Ohio quilter wins Bernina machine in Quilter’s Coffee® contest

Love of quilting inspires husband to register wife

What started as a Mother’s Day gift from her husband last May, turned into winning a state-of-the-art quilting machine for a Springfield, OH, woman. Quilter’s Coffee®, an online coffee company catering to the quilting community, announced that Yana Garing was selected as the winner in the company’s “Win a Bernina” Contest. As the winner of the contest, Garing received a Bernina Aurora 440 QE sewing machine, valued at $3,700.

“My husband found the contest online on Mother’s Day and signed me up,” said Garing. “He purchased my first machine 20 years ago and knew about Bernina after I saw one during a presentation by Bernina Main Street at our Quilt Guild meeting.”

Quilter’s Coffee started the contest in January 2006 for guests who registered on their Web site. During the contest, a $25 gift certificate toward a purchase of Quilter’s Coffee products was awarded each month to a registered guest. The grand prize recipient was drawn from the 12 monthly winners.

According to the founder of Quilter’s Coffee, Dan Cook, associating his company’s brand with the quality of the Bernina brand made sense for the grand prize.

“I gave my wife a Bernina Aurora 440 QE for our 10th wedding anniversary and thought that it would be a great prize giveaway,” said Cook. “She absolutely loves the machine and it has brought her a lot of enjoyment in quilting and I felt that our customers would love to have a chance to win one.”

The Bernina Aurora 440 QE machine will allow Garing the opportunity to use state-of-the-art computerized technology, such as the Bernina® Stitch Regulator (BSR), to complete future projects in a fraction of the time. When using her current machine, it usually takes Garing three months to complete her quilts, which she usually gives to family and friends. Bernina Main Street in Dayton, OH, will be Garing’s designated dealer for her new Bernina machine.

After registering for the contest, Garing was able to enjoy another aspect of Quilter’s Coffee, their Coffee Club membership.
