Karen McTavish awarded as 2007 Machine Quilting Teacher-of-the-Year

Karen McTavishOn April 18, Machine Quilters Exposition founders, Janet-Lee Santeusanio and Mary Schilke announced the much anticipated 2007 Machine Quilting Teacher-of-the-Year at their annual banquet.

With nominations for this prestigious award encompassing a broad range of quilting styles, the overwhelming favorite was Karen McTavish. This enormously talented, fun, spunky, edgy woman has brought wholecloth quilting into the 21st century with seemingly little effort. Her passion for the wholecloth quilt and her willingness to share her knowledge makes her a perfect candidate for Machine Quilting Teacher-of-the-Year.

The nomination essays all mentioned Karen’s infectious enthusiasm and how she envelops her students with a “Can-Do” attitude like few others in the industry. Karen received a rhinestone pin, an etched glass award, a prize check for $300 and a well deserved standing ovation. The award is sponsored by MQX and King’s Men Quilting Supply.
