Baby Lock partners with “Queen of Quilting” Eleanor Burns
An inspiration and teacher for thousands of quilters around the country, Burns will lend her voice, presence and experience to Baby Lock’s new line of quilting machines. To many, she represents colorful personality, innovative leadership and skill unmatched by any in the quilting industry. She joins Nancy Zieman, national sewing authority and host of the PBS show Sewing With Nancy, as a spokesperson for Baby Lock products. “As much as I love quilting, the machines in the Baby Lock Quilter’s Dream Series only add to my enjoyment,” said Burns. “I’m really looking forward to educating other quilters about these machines and my favorite features, as well as helping them find a machine that suits their needs.” Best known for its high-end line of sewing machines, Baby Lock already has a strong base of brand-loyal sewers and embroiderers. The brand is now focusing significantly on its Quilter’s Dream Series, a line of four machines of varying capabilities, from exceptionally advanced to basic, specifically designed for quilters of all abilities. The machines include the Espire, the new Quest, the Quilter’s Choice and the Quilter’s Choice Professional. “Eleanor will bring a completely new dimension to Baby Lock,” said Kristi Humes, senior vice president of marketing, Baby Lock. “We’ve been a leader in the sewing industry for over 40 years, and now we’re making strides to assure our customers that we’re equally well-equipped in the art of quilting.” Each machine in the Quilter’s Dream Series offers the exceptional value, advanced technology, ease of use, and creative control that all Baby Lock machines provide. Famous for her unique quilting techniques, Burns has written over 70 books, teaches numerous quilting classes in the San Diego area, hosts a television show, and travels throughout the United States writing, lecturing and teaching. She began quilting as a small child and started teaching quilting as a way to earn an income. Because of family responsibilities and limited time, she developed simple cutting and piecework techniques that would eventually become the basis for her “Quilt in a Day” method of quilting. Her television show, Quilt in a Day, can be seen on PBS, RFD-TV and QNN Worldwide.
